What are essential fatty acids (EFA’s)?
Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) are necessary “healthy” polyunsaturated fats that humans cannot synthesize, or whose synthesis is limited, so that they must be obtained through diet. There are two families of EFAs: Omega-3 and Omega-6. The patented formula in Efficas Care includes 500 mg Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), an omega-3 fatty acid, and 750 mg Gamma-Linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid.

Why do I need EFA’s?
EFA’s are important to health for a number of reasons. In particular, individuals with allergies and asthma have a unique dietary need for higher levels of the fatty acids GLA and EPA to modulate the synthesis of leukotrienes.

Can I get the required amounts of EFA’s from my diet to reduce leukotriene production and relieve my allergic symptoms?
It is not possible to get the correct amount and ratio of EFA’s that are in Efficas Care from the foods in your diet. Furthermore, use of dietary supplements to provide these nutrients is completely impractical; it would take a total of 17 capsules of fish and borage oil per day to supply the equivalent amounts of these nutrients into your immune cells.

How much should I take per day?
Efficas Care is formulated to deliver a precise amount of the correct ratio of EPA and GLA to reduce inflammatory messengers in your body. Follow the directions on each package and take one dose of the multi-serve liquid or one single-serve packet per day. Do not exceed the recommended amount on the package directions.

How should I take my Efficas Care?
Take one serving daily, ideally with food. Shake well and measure one serving of liquid, or just tear a packet open and squeeze the contents directly into your mouth or onto a spoon. Some people prefer the taste of Efficas Care when served cold. You may also enjoy Efficas Care mixed in with yogurt or a smoothie. Efficas Care can also be mixed with the foods listed on our tips page.

Couldn’t I just take a pill?
The GLA and EPA in Efficas Care are emulsified, which means they are made into very tiny particles. In clinical studies, dietary GLA and EPA showed significantly enhanced bioavailability when consumed in the emulsion gel formulation compared with consumption in soft-gel capsules.
Enhanced bioavailability means that less oil is required for optimal benefit. It would require 17 one-gram gelatin capsules of oil to provide the effective amount of GLA and EPA you get from a single-serve packet or one tablespoon of liquid Efficas Care – the daily amount needed to help adults and children over 12 years old manage asthma and associated allergy symptoms.

What if I miss a day?
If you miss a day of taking your Efficas Care, simply resume taking one packet per day on the next day. Do not take more than one packet per day.

Should I take Efficas Care year-round?
If you experience asthma year-round, then you should take Efficas Care year-round for best results. If your condition is seasonal, begin taking Efficas Care two to four weeks before you expect to experience symptoms, and take daily throughout the season that normally bothers you.

Are there any drug interactions?
The Efficas Care products are intended for use with your current asthma medications. Can I take this product with multivitamins or other supplements like omega 3 products?
Efficas Care is intended for use with multivitamins and other supplements. However, we recommend that the Efficas Care be your only source of supplemental essential fatty acids, and that you not use either borage oil or fish oil capsules in addition to it. We encourage you to discuss your supplement regimen with your doctor.

Does Efficas Care contain DHA?
Yes, due to the natural blend of essential fatty acids present in high-quality wild fish oil, each product also contains approximately 350 mg of DHA. We recommend that Efficas Care be your only source of supplemental DHA.

Is it okay for children to take Efficas Care?
Efficas Care multi-serve liquid may be taken by children. Give one serving daily with food according to label instructions:

Children 6 years to under 12 years ................ 6 mL (1 teaspoon)

Children 2 years to under 6 years ................. 3 mL (1/2 teaspoon)

Efficas Care single-serve packets are designed for use by adults and children 12 and over.

You should consult with your physician about whether it is safe for you to take Efficas Care if you are allergic to fish. Efficas Care contains oils from sardine and anchovy.
